Product Range and Distribution- Research Feedback

The crit sessions today have been really useful in terms of ideas and where to go next. It was good to gather everyones opinions into the ivory trade, rhino poaching and the fur trade. People tend to didn't like the idea of being too brutal with the visual, but I do still want to shock the audience. I have also realised that I need to define my target audience.

Here are some pieces of feedback I got, all feedback was anonymous:

Feedback sheet 1

Comments on research to date:
good focus on fur, think its a good route to go down- even touching on ivory transport
cleaver designs that are conceptual but not disturbing

Areas for improvement:
looking further into campaigns and their effectiveness: turn on it's head for different approach

Areas for further development: further into sales of fur and whey people where it to inform practical outputs and target the right people

Feedback sheet 2

Comments on research to date: Fur would be a good focus, focusing with fashion, look at rather be naked campaign

Areas for improvement: do people still wear fur in western society? with really good faux fur which are cheaper? is it more of an issue in other countries?

Feedback sheet 3

Comments on research to date: ivory smuggling and rhino poaching- WWF campaign, Chinese fur farms- animal cruelty- peta campaigns

Areas for improvement: research campaigns that aim for the tone of voice

Areas for development: illustrative campaigns

Feedback sheet 4

Comments on research to date: watch the tom hardy documentary on poaching

Feedback sheet 5

Areas for improvement: don't watch peta videos

Areas for further development: Avoid shock imagery

Feedback sheet 6

Comments on research to date: Illustration could be shocking without being too graphic

Areas for further development: general shock campaigns

I also got some general good feedback from Danny, got some good ideas of how to move forward with this. I am thinking of making a campaign about fur farms and the damage they are doing. I will create different merchandise for this campaign. The two main ideas I have had are

Possible Outcomes

1) to shave the fur into type and maybe look into a repeat pattern of fur. the fur texture will make the merchandise have more depth and not be flat images like many of the peta campaigns. The fur type posters could them be dipped into some sort of blood like paint and hung up and photographed.

2) name and shave. I could create a campaign that names all of the designers that uses real fur within their designs on the cat walk, designers such as Alexander McQueen.
