Type Journal- Sign Writing

Sign Writing- Traditional and Hand Rendered

My Dad has just has his latest truck sign written by hand. This is such an old fashioned way of having things on trucks as nowadays it is all stickers with graphics, yet I think the hand drawn type is just as effective and eye-catching. The colour of the type is a big design decision, sometimes the sign writer is able to give advise, but most of the time it depends on the era of the vehicle. There is always two fonts used within every vehicle  always a serif font, that is clear from a distance, and a more scripted font which gives it more of a vintage feel.  Sign writing is always very decretive, but you don't want to go over the top as it could ruin it completely.
